Ariana not only placed in the finals at her regional BizFest competition inMcAllen,TX, she also won 2nd place at the National BizFest inDallas. Her business plan to create a humane animal shelter in her hometown won her a $1,000 scholarship. A senior in high school, Ariana has been accepted to the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin.“I am so grateful to have taken part in BizFest. I believe it has, and will continue to serve a significant role in shaping me into a future business woman in corporate America. BizFest showed me that my dream career is out there, waiting to be created.” |

Montserrat’s business plan was a commercial and residential cleaning company called Green Shiny Clean, LLC. Her business advocated the use of organic products as part of its services. Today, Montserrat is a student at the University of Kansas and is working towards a degree in Cellular Biology. Upon graduation, she would like to attend medical school at the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara.“I would advise everyone participating in BizFest to make the most of it; be passionate, focus on your presentation and make it ORIGINAL. Sofia named her business the Tampa Hispanic Youth Voice (THYV). This non-profit organization was dedicated to encouraging Latino youth in Tampa to become influential leaders of their communities by embracing education, volunteer work, and the Latino culture. A recent graduate of Brown University where she double majored in Anthropology and Ethnic Studies, and graduated Magna Cum Laude,Sofiawill soon begin law school at New York University.“BizFest motivated me to define and accomplish my future goals…it helped me realize that I can be a leader in my community; I can make a difference.” |

An Arizona State University (ASU) graduate, Yesenia majored in Accounting and minored in Spanish. Her BizFest business plan proposal for an event planning service garnered her the attention of the college of business at ASU which inducted her into their Student Hall of Fame. She is currently an accountant inArizonaand taking review courses for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Exams.“BizFest introduced me to the true meaning of entrepreneurship. I always knew I had it in me to have my own business but it was here where it all made sense and I was able to define what being entrepreneurial truly means.” |

As part of his QuickCut business proposal in 2004, Gerardo aimed to directly link lawn care service providers to potential customers. This entrepreneurial spirit has guided him in pursuing a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Southern California and working full time at Boeing Research and Technology within the Business Operations Group. He also continues to evaluate his options as a young entrepreneur and hopes to start or lead a business in the near future.“BizFest was one of the best experiences of my undergraduate career. It sparked the entrepreneurial spirit inside of me and was a major influence in my decision to pursue an MBA.” |
