While the Chamber Training Institute program was first introduced in 1993, the USHCC Foundation partnered with the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business in 2010 to foster the survival, growth, and prosperity of Hispanic-owned businesses and the wider Hispanic community. The new curriculum is a customized training program that offers deeper levels of engagement and more relevant roster of topics designed to advance business leadership and managerial skills.
Using an innovative training series, the institute builds the capacity of USHCC chamber members by offering entrepreneurial and executive technical assistance, support, and resources so they can in turn strengthen and build their own businesses and communities. The institute brings trainings to communities where educational opportunities are neither affordable nor accessible to ensure that Hispanic entrepreneurs gain access to best practices and achieve success in business.
The Chamber Training Institute offers annual trainings at “hub” locations throughout the country. Local chambers host the trainings and chamber leaders from other regional chapters travel to attend the trainings. USHCC Foundation staff and expert trainers from our program partner, theUniversityofNotre Dame Mendoza School of Business, deliver an intensive two to four day, hands-on training that takes an in-depth look into core areas of nonprofit and for-profit business management. Training topics have included:
• Media Skills and Public Speaking
• Financing, Grant Writing and Fund Development
• Board Governance
• Political Advocacy and Coalition Building
• Organizational Management
• Growth Leadership and Strategic Planning
• Personal and Organizational Branding
The Chamber Training Institute is free to our chamber members, thanks to our strategic partnership with Wells Fargo. The USHCC Foundation is offering this opportunity to key chamber leaders, members of your board of directors, and other chamber members who would benefit from the courses.
